Francie 'It's a Date' #1251 1966

I was 10 years old in 1966 and loved my Francie doll.  She was so cute and modern and had the perfect flip hairdo!

This is my AA reproduction Francie modeling 'It's a Date'.
This is a cute dress mixing dots and stripes in turquoise and lime green with crisp white collar and cuffs.  I would have loved to have this dress in real life!  It comes with very pale blue textured hose but they are very hard to get on the dolls with the rubbery bendable legs and being over 50 years old I didn't want to take a chance and tear them.  Blue soft low heels complete her look.

The hose are perfect!

Francie 'Side Kick' #1273 1967-1968

This Francie was the last doll I received as a kid from my parents.  I didn't have a lot of outfits for her so I am trying to make up for it now.  This is 1 of 2 outfits I received this Christmas.

Side Kick, #1273,  is a cute navy/white gingham dress with lace accents and red buttons and bow, and matching hat.  The shoes here are replacement square toed chunky low heeled pumps, not the soft red low heels.  It was available in 1967 through 1968.

I had this plastic red bow headband from a current Hello Kitty fashion pak and it goes great with dress.  It matches the plastic red bow on the dress almost perfectly.  This is really an adorable outfit and Francie looks so cute in it!

Catching Up

Sorry it's been awhile, not sure where the
time goes.  So let's catch up.......

Before Christmas I found a few good
deals.  The first one was this 1971 Marlo
flip TNT Barbie.

It's funny I was looking for one on Ebay
to put on my Christmas list and found her
at a local indoor flea market about a week
before Thanksgiving.  I hardly ever make finds
like this around here.

She is in great shape, good face paint and
her legs click 3 times. Her hair is reddish
brown (might be turning brassy from age).
Her forehead curl is sparse but it is there.
A bonus was she was wearing outfit #1476
(minus the slippers), which can be hard to find.

She is my 1st Marlo flip doll, but she
might not be the last.  I would love a
blonde someday.  So glad I found her!

The next find came about 3 weeks before
Christmas.  This doll wasn't tops on my
must have list but she was a fantastic
buy and now that I have her I love her.

This Julia doll is gorgeous.  She has
really nice hair and it has oxidized into a
brilliant red.  She did not have her
original nurses outfit but came wearing
the Winter Wedding dress.  It has yellowed
and has what looks rust stains on the back
but it is still a beautiful dress.

I am hoping to find her nurses' outfit
or at least a reproduction one.  But
she will fit nicely with my other mod
era dolls.

My last find before Christmas was this
Francie outfit  Mini Check # 1209.

I found this complete on Ebay in
excellent condition for a great buy.
I never had a lot of clothes for my
Francie doll growing up so am trying
to add to wardrobe when possible.
Those knee socks are soooo groovy!

Christmas Goodies

Lucky me got everything I asked
for for Christmas.

This gorgeous lady joined my other
Model Muse swimsuit gals.  Her hair
is even more beautiful in real life.  I may
either pick it out a little or remove it from
the rubberband to get a fuller afro, not
sure yet which I'll do.  Only one left
of these ladies to get to complete the
set.

 Francie Go-Granny-Go #1267.  This
outfit is complete and in excellent condition!
It even has the little record AND record
jacket.

Skipper - Silk n' Fancy and Dress Coat
#1906.  I have always wanted this outfit
to with Barbie's Silken Flame and Red Flare.

Ken - Saturday Date #786.  I didn't have
a Ken growing up, so I am trying to
build a vintage wardrobe for the
vintage Ken and Allen I acquired some
years ago.  I think this brings their
wardrobe total up to 3 outfits.....they
definitely lag behind the ladies!

My birthday is next Saturday, so I am
expecting more great Barbie gifts!

Francie Hill-riders #1210 1968-69

Francie is wearing Hill-riders from 1968-69.
This was one of my favorite outfits for her
even though it is a pain to get the sweater on.
It is in pristine condition except that the
under arm seam came undone (probably
got caught on her fingers putting it on).
Until I find matching thread to stitch it
up she is wearing one of the 3 sweaters
my friend, Carol, made.

It's just a little large and the color is not
quite perfect, but I think it looks pretty
good on her.

Carol has knit several sweaters and skirts for
my dolls.  Since I am all thumbs at crafts like
knitting and crochet I am amazed at these
tiny little wonders, her stitches are so, so small
and even.  I will be showcasing more of her
work soon.

First Things First #1252 - 1966

Francie in First Things First

Okay, apparently my parents had a thing for under garments. Francie is fully togged out in panties, slip, pettipants, garter and stockings.

This outfit is also complete and in good condition, probably again because she didn't wear it much.

Shoppin' Spree # 1261 - 1966

Francie in Shoppin' Spree
Francie is out for an afternoon of shopping and lunch in this simple shift and matching coat ensemble. All she's missing is her purse and gloves.  I'm a sucker for matching dress and coat outfit.

First Formal #1260 - 1966 - 1967

Francie in First Formal

Francie is the belle of the ball in this sweet gown with embroidered flowers and scalloped hem. A cute cape in fuchsia helps keep the cool spring evening air at bay. A pair of blue low heeled pumps and short gloves (missing) complete the outfit.
