Holiday Barbie 2021

She's here!

This doll is available in the usual 3 versions of caucasian, hispanic and AA.  I don't get the Holiday doll every year but lately I have been opting for the AA version.  The AA version usually has a different hairstyle every year which, to me, makes the dolls more interesting, I don't know why they don't switch up the other two versions.  I ordered this one the minute I saw her.......that hair is so cute!  And her face, I think this is a new face sculpt, so pretty.

I like the silver dress and don't even mind the silver plastic corset, it adds a little sparkle.  The only thing I don't care for is the drawn on baby hair along the hairline.  The 2019 doll had the same issue for me.  I just don't think it is needed.  I do think that if this doll is handled or played with a lot those braids will start to fray on the ends, we'll see.

The bodice under the corset is the same material as the dress skirt, simple but elegant.  The corset is easy to remove.  She has clear pointy toed pumps with a very, very thin heel which is going to bend over time.  COA and stand are included.  She has a standard model muse style body.

All in all, I love her........she's a real doll!

Christmas Eve Around Our House

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  This year has certainly been trying times for everyone, this blog has kept me sane.  May we all have health and happiness in 2021!

Ken and Allen went overboard with the ugly Christmas sweaters!

Looks like Skipper and Skooter got everything they wanted for Christmas!

My 5 Holiday dolls, so pretty and festive!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by, I enjoy being able to share my collection with everyone.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Barbie Collection Catalog Project - 101-105 It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Many years ago I had almost all of the Holiday Barbies, but I decided to get rid of them all when we moved to Florida.  I didn't really care for most of them that much.  Since that time I have been picking up a few of the more current Holiday dolls.

I think this Holiday doll is my current favorite.  Love the Mackie face and her ponytail.  Her gown is a little reminiscent of the early dolls, opulent and poufy, but it is very pretty.

2002 Holiday Celebration Barbie #53209

The dress of this doll attracted me, love the silver/white combination and the snowflakes.  The doll is quite pretty but I really need to do something about her hair.  It is stiff and if you brush it is gets frizzy....yikes!

2013 25th Anniversary Holiday Barbie AA  #X8272

I am not sure why I bought the next doll. Her dress is just okay, nothing special and the red/gold combo is not my favorite.  The doll itself is okay, she has beautiful hair, but on a whole she is meh.  Not sure what I was thinking when I got her, maybe the price was just to good to pass up!

2014 Holiday Barbie #BDH35

I prefer the red/silver combo of this gown and think the doll has a prettier face than the previous doll.  Maybe it is the open mouth vs closed mouth?  I don't know but I like this one better....go figure.

2015 Holiday Barbie #CHT00

Running a very close second to my favorite holiday doll is this one.  I LOVE her curly side ponytail, it's almost perfect.  What I hate are the drawn on tendrils on her forehead, just no need for them.  And her dress...oh, my it is beautiful, so simple and elegant.

2019 Holiday Barbie AA FXF02-0970-DOM

These are my holiday Barbies to date.  There maybe more added down the road, I would really like a blonde 2011 (love that green dress!).  But I will not be getting the 2020 doll, that gold dress is just not my cup of eggnog.

Do you collect any Holiday Barbies?  Which is your favorite.

Thanks for stopping by.....

Barbie Collection Catalog Project 79-82 - Enchanted Seasons

I usually debox my dolls, usually.  I have a small selection of dolls that will never be removed from their boxes by me because they were purchased more for their whole concept rather than just the doll or outfit.

The Enchanted Seasons collection began with the Snow Princess doll and I just thought she was beautiful so I decided to get the whole collection.

1994  Snow Princess  #11875

1994 Spring Bouquet  #12989

1996 Summer Splendor  #15683

1995 Autumn Glory  #15204

The winter and autumn dolls are gorgeous!  Their dresses are stunning.  Spring and summer, eh, not so much.  Neither dress looks like a lot of thought went into them and summer looks like a cotton candy explosion.  At least the doll for spring is cute.

Have you ever purchased dolls that you were disappointed with?

Barbie Catalog Project 69-73

This doll is part of the holiday series were issued every year for grocery stores and big box discounters.  There were only 2 in this series, this blonde Barbie and the AA Barbie.  One of the few Barbies issued with straight shoulder length hair they are both lovely.  I am still trying to find the AA version at a reasonable price, she has the Christie face mold and is so pretty.

1998 Tree Trimming Barbie #22967

Sorry these pictures aren't clearer.  When I went to dress her in her original outfit I discovered what a pain in the A$$ it is too get her velvet leggings on!  They have some kind of separate nylon lining that is impossible to move up her legs.  Needless to say, it was either shoot her in the buff or find an old picture of a Christmas diorama from several years ago......I lucked out.  I am going to have to make her a new pair of dark green pants to go with the ugly Christmas sweater.

I believe, but don't quote me, that this was the first doll in the City Seasons series.
The doll herself doesn't thrill me.  Her makeup is a little washed out and that forehead needs some bangs or fringe or whatever they call them these days.  Now her outfit is another story.  It is very well made, especially the coat.  She is wearing a short sleeve black full bodysuit.  The coat seems to be a light wool, lined in red taffeta with fake fur trim at collar and cuffs with a little brooch.  Hat, scarf, bright red mittens, patent purse with chain strap and midrise heeled black boots make this very classy.

1998 City Seasons-Winter in New York #19429

I love this doll, it is my favorite AA doll with the Nichelle facemold.  She is just so pretty.  Her uniform is cute and fits well, love the boots.  I also like the fit of the pants and I may attempt to make a pattern from them.

1998 Disney Animal Kingdom Barbie AA #20989

Another beautiful doll with the Mackie facemold.  I will use her as a twin to the free spirit  Butterfly Arts Barbie in future story lines.

She has the most fantastic pair of gold pumps, I hope I never lose them.  I don't know about anyone else but I never put the sheer tights back on the dolls because I always poke the toes through when trying to put the shoes on!  Is there a trick to this?  If so someone please let me know.......

1999 Cool Collecting Barbie #25525

This is a cute retro style doll.  She also comes with a few miniature toys but only the Barbie game is to scale.  The viewmaster and 8 ball are too big to use in dios.

Thanks for stopping by.......

Christmas Outfits Part 3

Well, I did say I started sewing for the
holidays before Thanksgiving, so I
got quite a few items completed.

Here we have 2 simple gowns, both
have metallic accents on the fabric.

These ladies are 'Spots and Dots Teresa'
and 'Bead Blast Barbie'.  I chose simple,
unfussy lines for these dresses to show
off the fabric.  They are both 100% cotton
but work nicely here.

Well, I think that's all of them...9 total
outfits.  I had one more Skipper dress
cut out but just got tired of sewing
Christmas outfits!
