Barbie Collection Catalog Project 33-37

Give me a head with hair!

1972 Mod Hair Ken
#4224

1979 Black Barbie
#1293

1980 Golden Dream Christie
#3249

1981 Sunsational Malibu Ken
#3849

1983 Great Shapes Barbie AA
#7834

I love the early AA Barbies and Christies and Ken's with rooted hair.
These 3 ladies are some of my favorite dolls.

The Golden Dreams Christie was my grail doll for a few years until I found NRFB at a reasonable price.  I am a deboxer for a few reasons, the main being that these dolls/clothes will deteriorate in their boxes.  This Golden Dreams doll has tape residue on her back that has melded to the plastic.  Luckily her outfit is holding up well but is as stiff as cardboard.

Did I mention I LOVE Ken's with hair?  I have a few of them but hope to eventually get more of them.  The Sundational Malibu Ken is one of my favs......that is a righteous Afro!

Thanks for stopping.......

Barbie Collection Catalog Project 30-31

1972 Quick Curl Kelley
#4221

1979
Pretty Changes Barbie
#2598

I think Kelley is really sweet and would love to add a Yellowstone Kelley to my collection.  I got her redressed so do not have her green gingham/white dress but I have a similar fabric and hope to make her cute dress someday.

Pretty Changes Barbie is not a favorite of mine but I do like that at the time she was one of the few Barbies with a short hair style, kind of a 70's bubblecut.  While I do have the outfit I do not have the hair accessories

Collection Catalog Project 25-29

1971-1977
Sunset Malibu Barbie
# 1067

1971-1977
Sunset Malibu Skipper
#1069

1971-1977
Sunset Malibu Francie
#1068

1972-1977
 Sunset Malibu P.J.
#1187

1973-1977
Sunset Malibu Christie
#7745

I think this was the first year for low cost basic beach dolls which became very popular over the years.   I still need to get the Ken for this series but haven't really been looking too hard (and for the time being I have put a hold on any doll buying unless it is something special and a great price).

P.J., Christie and Barbie are my favorites in this series.  Christie is the only one that I have the original swimsuit for, and she had her sunglasses still attached to her head.  Francie is my least favorite.  She is actually the Casey facemold which I think was a kind of copout.  The Skipper is okay, she has beautiful think long hair.

The project continues!  The Husband and I are limiting are time out in public so I should get a lot more of this done along with sewing.

Dust Bags

No I am not protecting the dolls from the virus, just from dust.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I was looking for another way to
store my dolls and decided to try them on stands with dust covers in the closet.

I am using unbleached muslin, cut 10" x 13", hemmed on one 10" side.
Then folded in half the long way and stitched on one side and the top.

I will probably make small labels identifying each doll and pin to the top of the bag.

I mostly use the Kaiser doll stands and find them a little slippery under foot.
So I am using a piece of  open weave type of shelf/drawer liner on the bottom to keep
everyone on their toes!  Works great.....

I am hoping this way of storing works for me as I am tired of trying to come up with the
perfect solution.

On another note I hope that everyone is safe and healthy where ever you may be.  As a senior
citizen I am somewhat concerned about this virus but I am a very healthy senior and am doing
whatever is recommended to stay that way.  While I believe this is very serious, I also believe some
people are causing a panic.
So stay calm, I believe we will pull through.
